Subject: Adding a headphone jack to a HR2510
You need a normally open 1/8 inch monaural jack, a twelve inch piece of
twenty-four gauge wire, a drill and bit the same size as the body of the jack,
some solder and a x-acto knife.
Remove the top cover of the HR 2510 and just unscrew the bottom for now.
Keep the top of the radio to you for the first part.
Drill the hole between the SO-239 and the heat sink. Place the hole just
above the center of SO-239. Take care to allow space for the jack not to
touch the coil located on the PCB board. **Do not hit the SWR board when
drilling.**
Cut the wire into two pieces, one being about two to three inches long.
Solder the short wire to the blue wire coming out of the top of the
nylon plug or anywhere along itself. The remaining wire needs to be soldered
to the positive terminal of the internal speaker.

This is a picture of the jack. #1=The pin which the tip of the headphone jack
touches.
2=The piece of metal that makes the contact to
#1.
3,5,6= solider joints.
4=Is where the jacks main body rests.
Solider the long wire from the speaker to #6.
Solider the short wire from the blue wire to # 5.
Done, now you have no need for the nylon plug attached to the back of the
radio and it will disable the internal. speaker when a plug is inserted. Yes the
nylon plug will still work, but do not do both at the same time.
